Return to Monte Bello Meetings
I hope this email finds you well and enjoying our Fall weather. We had a great meeting on Monday and for those who could not attend we missed you. We had 13 members present along with one guest, my grandson Matthew. Brother Mickey Haddock did a fantastic job talking about his incredible career. He discussed his young life growing up near Waterloo Road before moving near Central HS where he graduated from. After graduation he married his lovely wife while working for the City of Florence and they just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Shortly after getting Married Mickey went into the military and after two years he became a National Guardsman where he retired after 34 years of service. After leaving the military Mikey returned to the City of Florence where he became a firefighter. After 7 years of firefighting he ran for Lauderdale County License Commissioner where he served for 20 years. Mickey ended his career with the City of Florence as the Mayor a couple of years of ago. He begin officiating sports in 1975 moving from HS to College ball and spending several years officiating in the Gulf States Conference in several sports including football, basketball, and baseball. He is now officiating in the SEC and showed us his Rose Bowl Ring he received at last year's Rose Bowl game. Mickey is now traveling with his wife in an RV. He said they have been to all fifty states and have been to all but 4 states 2 times. Their next plan is to visit all of the National Parks.
Our next meeting will be on Monday, October 28th with Brother Ken Patterson talking about his incredible life in the Shoals area including his longtime business in East Florence, his time on the North Alabama Fair Board and all of his community efforts on behalf of Florence. Please don't miss this program. Also on Veterans Day don't forget we will be meeting at Veterans Park for Veterans Day at 10 a.m for the ceremonies that will be going in honor of our many veterans both living and deceased . Many of our brothers will be participating and it is important that we be there to show our support for them and our veterans. After the ceremonies we will be going to the Mongolian Grill for our usual luncheon and meeting. Look forward to seeing all of you at both meetings.
