Return to Monte Bello Meetings
Good Morning Good Brothers,
Brother Ken Patterson was not able to attend so Brother Robert Steen did the program and did an excellent job. We had 16 members present.
Brother Robert talked about growing up in the Shoals area and attending Rogers School where he graduated from. He than attended the UNA where he also graduated from. While going to school Robert was a riverboat pilot on the Tennessee River. In college Robert took ROTC and majored in history. After completing college Robert went into the Army Reserves and taught in the Lauderdale County schools, While teaching he was called into active duty for the Berlin Wall Crisis, after the crisis his activity duty status was extended and he was assigned to serve in Vietnam were he served heroically in many battles and in many highly combative areas. Because his time ran out Brother Robert's program ended with his time in Vietnam and did not include his many other accomplishments. While in Vietnam he obtained the rank of Major and retired from the service with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Friday November 8th he has been asked to speak at Florence Middle School about his service and will he will be moderating the program at Veterans Park on Monday which will begin at 11 a.m. Brother Jim Harris and I will arrive early at around 10:30 a.m. to work on reserving a row of seats for our Lodge members. If you plan on attending please let me know before Monday morning how many will be coming with you so I can make sure we have enough seats reserved to accommodate our group. After the meeting we will head over to the Mongolian Grill for a late lunch and fellowship followed by a short business meeting after which we will adjourn.
Friday Shoals Christian School is honoring our Veterans at 10:30 a.m. The band will be playing the Star Spangled Banner and a Military Melody to honor all of the Branches of Service including the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Brother Ed Cheney will be speaking at the program. All KOP members are invited to attend the program if you wish. The program will end by 11 a.m. Let me know if you plan on attending before this Friday and I will make sure you have a seat. Brother Ed is also speaking at the Veterans Park Ceremony on Monday as well so please try to attend both if possible. Brothers Robert, Tommy Chapin and Randy Chapin have worked diligently on this program at Veterans Park so please support them for this program by being there. Hope to see you this Friday and Monday.
