Return to Monte Bello Meetings
Good Morning Good Brothers,
Hope you are doing well and you are enjoying this somewhat cooler weather. A relative thought I guess. Yesterday's meeting went well very well. Unfortunately, we learned that Brother Ed Yeilding is recovering from a severe illness, and it may be sometime before he can return. The diagnosis is positive for a full recovery, but full recovery will take time. Ed is staying with his sister and brother-in-law. Please keep Ed and his family in your prayers, and hopefully, he will be back on his feet soon.
Marvin did our program yesterday, and he did an outstanding job talking about growing up on his family farm in Morgan County near Brindley Mountain. He graduated from Arab High School where he played football. After high school, he played football for a time at a Junior College before moving on to Florence State College where he also played and graduated in 1961. Besides farming, Marvin had a couple of other jobs including working at Times Daily and an agricultural brokerage firm before going to work at Herald Quick Print where he has worked since 1965. He is also continuing to farm as well, working at Herald Quick Print only 4 days a week now. During his presentation, he told several hilarious and interesting stories about growing up on the family farm including how he had made his own money raising cotton and using the labor of 9 of his girl cousins to help make it happen. He also told us how he used to take produce to Red Stone and Huntsville to sell off of his granddaddy's truck. He said he made more money doing that than the other family income combined.
During the meeting, we discussed the new Lodge Website and Facebook page. Brother Allen Davis from the Arizona Grand Lodge was commended for his efforts in helping our lodge get our site up and running. Brother Allen continues to be an asset for our lodge in helping us get into the 21st century with our lodge and technology.
Our next meeting will be on Monday, August 12, and Brother Dr. Dan Howard will be doing the program. He will share with us all of his years in the academic field and especially his time at UNA. It will be another entertaining and exciting program to hear. If Ed Yeilding is able, he will be doing our program on August 26. Again let's pray that he will be able too. With all of this said Happy Trails until we meet again on August 12th. Hope to see you all there.
